Prepping for Mosquitoes, Ticks, Deer Flies...

After much research, reading other blogs and having a little experience to boot, I began treating our clothes with Sawyer Insect Repellent. This stuff has been used by the U.S. And Canadian military for years and seems to be the best solution. For those of you who have been on cruises to Alaska, our trip will be a bit more woodsy! My husband is a fisherman-a fly fisherman-we will be around rivers and streams prone to the biting insects. Having fought mosquitoes in the Northwest Territories, I know that"bug-off" clothing works. I am hoping that this treatment will be as effective since the Bug Off clothing is very, very expensive. Time to order more-lots more items to treat!

23 Days to Go!

It's time for a little practice with creating and posting to this blog dedicated to the RV trip of a lifetime! We just returned from a family camping trip to Bodega Bay along the cool, windy north coast f California. Despite the blowing winds and cool temps, we had a lot of fun. Now it's time to make the final preps for Alaska.

Bob has done more research and decided against the gun. He discovered that Bear Spray is more effective with bear encounters. So at least a gun will not cause delays at the border crossings.

I have rearranged and cleaned out every nook and crannie of the camping trailer. Pinterest has been my friend in this area and I highly recommend it for those searching for organizational ideas. I am fortunate to have the camper stored just steps away, so I will spend the next 3 weeks finalizing our organization, storage and packing.

I am actually having a hard time waiting for our depart day. We might have moved it up but our travel partners are committed to an event in Oregon and will only get back into to repack and take off once again. John and Joyce rock!

Happy Little Campers
