Hatcher Pass

We took a beautiful drive today on a road that is described as "typically Alaskan". The scenery was drop-dead gorgeous...the road-rocks, dirt, twists and turns with many switchbacks! It is a road that runs on a loop from Wasilla to Willow, known as Hatcher Pass.  It leads to Independence Mine Historic Site and Summit Lake State Recreation Area. The picture will tell the story. Plus, what looks like a trail is actually the road!

Returned to camp for a beautiful afternoon and evening, watching the fishermen in the stream, looking at salmon swimming by and seeing Bob itch to get out there! He is on the stream now so I await fish reports!

  1. Looks great. We spent almost no time in this area. It sounds like it was a nice place to spend a leisurely day.
